Reuben Moss earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education, with a Minor in Music from Western Michigan University. He has served as a substitute teacher in the Kalamazoo Public Schools and a full-time teacher in the Comstock Public schools. In the mid 1970s, Mr. Moss owned a piano studio on Kalamazoo’s north side, and Helen Fox was one of the teachers. However, according to Mr. Moss, “she was much more than that. She was more like my business partner. She volunteered to help me in any way she could. We always went together to seek donations from philanthropists, we went to purchase sheet music and instruments together, and she helped me make a lot of important decisions. I considered her to be my friend and confidant.”
Mr. Moss retired as a secretary/recorder at Kalamazoo County’s 8th District after 21 years of service. He is a member of First United Baptist Church. He and his wife, Thelma, have five adult children.
